We live in an area of unimaginable wealth, next door to crushing despair.
California is the fifth largest economy in the world with some of the nations most impoverished neighborhoods. These are the people we aim to serve.

33rd ANNUAL SCHOLARSHIP GOLF TOURNAMENT - OLD RANCH COUNTRY CLUB
Our primary fundraiser is our Golf Tournament which will be held on Monday, September 23th at Old Ranch Country Club in Seal Beach. We are in our 33rd year of hosting this exciting event! Last year in 2023, we raised over $75,000 from this event alone for funding scholarships for local area high school students! RONALD McDONALD HOUSE – HAPPY MEALS Four times a year, our club members partner with local businesses to serve warm meals for the families staying at the Ronald McDonald House located at the Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles. ANNUAL HOLIDAY BASKETS Each holiday season, we adopt families and provide them with critical items they need. When you think about opening gifts under the tree - many of these families don't even have a tree. Thanks to generous sponsors and our membership, we are able to make the holidays a little brighter for dozens of families. ANNUAL SCHOLARSHIP LUNCHEON On Thursday, June 22nd, 2023, LAWA hosted the 2023 LAX Kiwanis Scholarship Luncheon at the Flight Path Museum. The LAX Kiwanis Club was founded in 1954 and has awarded over a million dollars in scholarships thanks to their annual golf tournament. Sixteen well-deserving high school seniors, along with six renewal applicants were recognized. The scholarship opportunity not only provides financial assistance, but also the chance for students to engage with community and civic leaders. Like the Kiwanis Club, LAWA is committed to improving and supporting our neighborhoods while connecting communities. This year was especially meaningful because APD Sergeant Rosalia Olguin co-chaired the event. Sergeant Olguin was a former scholarship winner, it was great to see all of her efforts come full circle. Thank you to the LAX Kiwanis members, Los Angeles City Councilmember Traci Park, LAWA CEO Justin Erbacci and Airport Police Chief Rhambo for joining the celebration. Congratulations to all of the scholarship winners on this extraordinary achievement. Campers enjoy seven (7) nights of lodging, meals, transportation to and from camp, and activities that may include archery, swimming, canoeing, banana boat rides, ropes courses, music activities, zip lines, climbing wall, dodge ball, hiking, arts & crafts, mountain biking, horse riding and more. BACK TO SCHOOL SHOPPING SPREE Every August we invite 15+ children in need from Westport Heights Elementary School in Westchester, CA to go on a shopping spree at Kohl’s in Westchester. Each child is assigned a Kiwanis Volunteer to help them pick out school uniforms and other back-to-school items. This past year each child was given an allowance of $150! |
